Newburyport Art’s April Reception celebrates the opening of two exhibitions: We Share One Sky and Saltwater Grounding. This reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments available.
Reception | NHS NAHS Senior Exhibition
March 30 (12:30-2:30pm)
Come meet the National Art Honor Society seniors of Newburyport High School, and celebrate their work! This reception is free and open to the public.
Reception | Young & Budding
March 17 (2-4pm)
A reception — free and open to the public with light refreshments available — will be held on Sunday, March 17th, from 2–4pm, and will include some small prizes for the young artists of the Young & Budding exhibition!
Reception | “Colors of March” and “With Gratitude”
March 2 (4-6pm)
Celebrate the artists and artwork featured in both month-long exhibitions in March: Colors of March and With Gratitude. Between these two exhibitions, over one hundred artworks are on display. This reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments served.
Awards Reception | Members' Winter Juried Show

Free and open to the public, an awards reception for the 2024 Members’ Winter Juried Show will fill the galleries. Light refreshments will be served and some awards will be presented by members of the exhibition jurying committee.

Collaborators in Conversation | The Making of a Book
Newburyport Art welcomes NAA Master Artist Ryan Kelley, photographer Ryan Gregory, and writer (and former NAA Executive Director) Elena Ruocco Bachrach for a panel discussion on collaboration, artistic process, and the making of a book. Specifically, the panel will dive deep into the efforts behind the group’s creation of Deeply Rooted. This special event is free and open to the public, with a reception, book signing, and sale following the panel discussion.

Come celebrate the work of Jake Ginga “Makerjake”, indigenous artist known in Massachusetts for his unique approach to portraiture and the seamless integration of indigenous iconography and contemporary design elements. Jake will lead an artist’s talk that begins in the second-floor Hartson Gallery and moves to his mural work on Independent Street. Light refreshments will be provided, and the reception is open to the public.

22nd Annual Art Auction & Party

The Annual Art Auction & Party is the NAA’s largest fundraising event, enabling its continued mission of promoting and exhibiting members’ work, and providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community. Join us for a night of cocktails, cuisine, and competitive bidding!
Auction Special Event

Free and open to the public, this Auction Special Event will feature artist talks, multiple bonus raffle draws, and the opening of Silent Auction bidding. As a further celebration of our auction artists, we hope you will join us for the festivities!

Come celebrate the work of the late Ron Emmerling, beloved NAA member, through this treasured featured artist exhibition — Ron Emmerling: A Retrospective. This is a very special exhibition, organized by Ron’s surviving wife and family, and they hope you will join in the celebrations this evening. Sophy Tuttle | Artist #3 of the NBPT Murals Project

Sophy Tuttle is the next artist in residence for the We Share One Sky public art murals project — spearheaded by Newburyport Art, in collaboration with the Tannery Marketplace, Blochaus Art Gallery, and the City of Newburyport, with generous support from the Essex County Community Foundation’s (ECCF’s) Creative County Initiative (CCI).
Auction Exhibition Opening Night Reception

Free and open to the public, this reception will be unlike any other this year! The Art Auction Exhibition will open alongside Ron Emmerling: A Retrospective. The night is a celebration of our auction artists, and we will hold a special raffle draw and have some additional artwork available for sale… ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Extended Hours Viewing | Featured Interest Groups: Photography & Printmaking

Newburyport Art is staying open late to allow for extra viewing hours of its two Featured Interest Group exhibitions: the Photography Interest Group and North of Boston Print Collaborative. All galleries will be open until 7pm, so come by and start your weekend by taking in some beautiful artwork!

Newburyport Chamber Music Festival: Open Rehearsal at the NAA

Newburyport Chamber Music Festival Artists rehearse a newly commissioned work for string quartet and soprano at the NAA, with the Festival’s Composer-in-Residence Jon Deak.
NAA Art Yard Sale

The Newburyport Art Board of Directors is hosting an Art Yard Sale right in the NAA’s backyard! There are some truly wonderful works of art available, and the Board hopes to give them all a new home. All proceeds will be donated to Newburyport Art!
Mural Artist Talk & Walk | Felipe Ortiz
August 1 (5:30pm)
The Lead Artist of the We Share One Sky murals project, Felipe Ortiz, will lead an Artist’s Talk & Walk. Felipe will introduce and discuss his mural work in the city, starting at 5:30pm in the NAA’s Sculpture Garden where he will introduce his modular, sculpture-painting primed for public interaction, and the group will then make its way to his large-scale mural in the Tannery Marketplace.
Jake Ginga (“Makerjake”) | Artist #2 of the NBPT Murals Project

The Scenes of Newburyport reception will also serve as the NAA’s 75th Anniversary celebration, with remarks from Mayor Sean Reardon and NAA Board President Scott Simmons. Two new murals will be unveiled at the galleries, and cake and refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
