The Annual Art Auction & Party is the NAA’s largest fundraising event, enabling its continued mission of promoting and exhibiting members’ work, and providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community. Join us for a night of cocktails, cuisine, and competitive bidding!

August 30 (5-7pm)

Free and open to the public, this reception will be unlike any other this year! The Art Auction Exhibition will open alongside member artist Rick Hamilton’s solo exhibition. The night is a celebration of our auction artists and solo show, and we will have some exciting information regarding the upcoming auction event, raffles, as well as the art on display!

August 10th, 4-6pm

Join the NAA in celebrating a show dedicated entirely to plein air pieces! A French expression meaning to paint outdoors, artwork created en plein air aims to capture the ephemeral effects of light as moments in space and time. Nature in its quiet, or dramatic gestures, people captured in private moments in public places, street scenes capturing the interplay of buildings, sun, shadows, textures, humanity in movement - all will be on display on our gallery walls!

July 26th, 5-7pm

Come celebrate two co-running shows at the NAA: Lisa Arcomano’s Sirens & Ghosts, and the open-call show Scenes of Newburyport. Featuring over 150 works of art, come visit the gallery during this reception in support of our wonderful artists and their work. This event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served. The gallery will be buzzing with artists, friends and family, community, and we would be honored to have you among us!

July 6th, 4-6pm

Come celebrate Newburyport Art’s latest exhibition entitled Works on Paper: Paper Works! This show features over 150 works of art by a range of incredible artists. The reception is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served. The gallery will be buzzing with artists, friends and family, and community coming together to celebrate these beautiful pieces.

May 4 (4-6pm)

Celebrate the artists and artwork featured in three May exhibitions: 20 Years of OpArt, Flowers for OpArt, and the Art Adventure Grant Exhibition. The award winner of the $2,000 Art Adventure Grant will be announced at approximately 4:15. The reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments served.

May 2 (11-1pm)

This reception is free and open to the public, celebrating the the artists of OpArt that have artwork featured in the 20 Years of OpArt exhibition. Light refreshments will be served.

April 19 (5pm)

NAA members are invited to gather for this year’s Members’ Annual Meeting, where Newburyport Art’s 2023 year will be reviewed. A reception will follow.

April 5 (5-7pm)

Newburyport Art’s April Reception celebrates the opening of two exhibitions: We Share One Sky and Saltwater Grounding. This reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments available.

March 30 (12:30-2:30pm)

Come meet the National Art Honor Society seniors of Newburyport High School, and celebrate their work! This reception is free and open to the public.

March 17 (2-4pm)

A reception — free and open to the public with light refreshments available — will be held on Sunday, March 17th, from 2–4pm, and will include some small prizes for the young artists of the Young & Budding exhibition!

March 2 (4-6pm)

Celebrate the artists and artwork featured in both month-long exhibitions in March: Colors of March and With Gratitude. Between these two exhibitions, over one hundred artworks are on display. This reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments served.

February 10 (4–6pm)

Free and open to the public, an awards reception for the 2024 Members’ Winter Juried Show will fill the galleries. Light refreshments will be served and some awards will be presented by members of the exhibition jurying committee.

Join Newburyport Art artists and art lovers for a warm and cozy reception that features NAA’s Master Artists. Free and open to the public with light refreshments served.

This reception is free and open to the public, celebrating the nearly 100 artists that have artwork featured in the Journeying Well: Artistic Pathways exhibition. Light refreshments will be served.

Newburyport Art welcomes NAA Master Artist Ryan Kelley, photographer Ryan Gregory, and writer (and former NAA Executive Director) Elena Ruocco Bachrach for a panel discussion on collaboration, artistic process, and the making of a book. Specifically, the panel will dive deep into the efforts behind the group’s creation of Deeply Rooted. This special event is free and open to the public, with a reception, book signing, and sale following the panel discussion.

Meet featured artist Nancy S. Cahan in celebration of her solo exhibition in the Hills Gallery — Out of the Fire: Expressions in Clay. The reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments provided.

Come celebrate the work of Jake Ginga “Makerjake”, indigenous artist known in Massachusetts for his unique approach to portraiture and the seamless integration of indigenous iconography and contemporary design elements. Jake will lead an artist’s talk that begins in the second-floor Hartson Gallery and moves to his mural work on Independent Street. Light refreshments will be provided, and the reception is open to the public.

September 24 (1-3pm)

Join NAA artist N. Rosemary LaMontagne for a meet-and-greet at Metzy’s Cantina, celebrating her ongoing exhibit: STICKS AND STONES - Reflections of Nature.

September 10 (1-5pm)

Free and open to the public, this Auction Special Event will feature artist talks, multiple bonus raffle draws, and the opening of Silent Auction bidding. As a further celebration of our auction artists, we hope you will join us for the festivities!

Come celebrate the work of the late Ron Emmerling, beloved NAA member, through this treasured featured artist exhibition — Ron Emmerling: A Retrospective. This is a very special exhibition, organized by Ron’s surviving wife and family, and they hope you will join in the celebrations this evening. Light refreshments will be provided, and the reception is open to the public.

Free and open to the public, this reception will be unlike any other this year! The Art Auction Exhibition will open alongside Ron Emmerling: A Retrospective. The night is a celebration of our auction artists, and we will hold a special raffle draw and have some additional artwork available for sale… ONE NIGHT ONLY!

August 18 (until 7pm)

Newburyport Art is staying open late to allow for extra viewing hours of its two Featured Interest Group exhibitions: the Photography Interest Group and North of Boston Print Collaborative. All galleries will be open until 7pm, so come by and start your weekend by taking in some beautiful artwork!
