Auction Exhibition Opening Night Reception

  • Newburyport Art Association 65 Water Street Newburyport, MA 01950 USA (map)

The Auction Exhibition Opening Night Reception is a reception unlike any other at Newburyport Art!

Celebrating its 75th Anniversary Year, Newburyport Art is proud and thankful to feature the work of 75 different artists across a wide variety of mediums as part of its 22nd Annual Art Auction. These artists have generously donated their artwork and time to help raise funds for the NAA, and this evening is very much a celebration of them!

  • From 5:30-6:45pm, we will be selling raffle tickets (1 for $10, 3 for $25) with a 7pm raffle drawing. The night’s raffle prize will be announced at the event, and tickets can only be purchased at the event in person.

BONUS: For every raffle ticket you purchase for this reception’s raffle drawing, you will ALSO receive the same number of entries into our THREE grand prize raffle drawings on the night of the Auction (September 23rd) — and you don’t even need to purchase an Auction admissions ticket to be eligible to win. This means you have four chances to win with every ticket purchased!

  • Only available at this reception, additional artwork will be for sale from the following artists:

    Barry Berman
    Lindley Briggs
    Amy Conly
    Rosalie Cuttichia
    Cheryl Dyment
    Rick Hamilton
    Annalee Johnson
    Christine Molitor Johnson
    Donald Jurney
    Susan Spellman

These ten, incredibly generous artists were the first to commit to participating in this year’s Auction with a full 100% donation of their work. While their Auction artwork is a 100% contribution to the NAA, any work that they sell from this Opening Night Reception will be at a 60%/40% split, in favor of the artist.

  • One of this year’s auction artists is the celebrated Ron Emmerling, who passed away in 2021. A posthumous featured artist exhibition was organized by Ron’s wife, Karla, and daughter, Robin, and will be available for viewing first at the Auction Exhibition Opening Night Reception.

Over 50 inspiring works will be on display in the Hills Gallery, ranging from an early-career variety across mediums to his many prolific and moving paintings completed after his devastating stroke in 2010.

A sneak peek at some of this year’s Auction artwork is below. On Friday, the online galleries will be live, so you can view the auction artwork in greater detail! Be sure to check out all of the details of this year’s Auction, and get your tickets to this sell-out event before they’re gone!
