Join drawing teacher Deborah Stanton on December 15th and improve your drawing skills! Deborah will introduce drawing fundamentals through progressive exercises and teach basic drawing skills to individuals who desire to improve their abilities, as well as to those who think they cannot draw.
No talent or previous experience necessary. Come with a desire to learn or build upon the knowledge and skills you already obtain. This class will be adjusted according to the varying and diverse needs of participanting artists’ levels of expertise. These drawing exercises will expand abilities in simple line drawing, shading, perspective drawing, portraiture, and composition development. The course will concentrate on black and white drawing, with 10-20% color instruction.
In addition to brief lectures, participants will receive personalized instruction and critique in a studio setting. All attending artists should bring adequate paper, pencil(s), and eraser(s). This session is suggested as a precursor to painting courses or advanced drawing courses.

Deborah Stanton is an experienced artist and professor. She specializes in photorealist art, displaying mastery of skill and media. She analyzes creative activities such as drawing and presents them to her students as consecutive steps, which in turn facilitates learning. Deborah values unique student styles and hopes to enhance each individual skill set through her instruction. Deborah is passionate about meeting students of all skill levels where they are in their artistic journey, enabling them through positive affirmations and a redirection of negative self talk.
Deborah holds an MFA in Painting from the California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, California. She previously received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She currently teaches at Gordon College and has years of experience working in various school & educational settings throughout Massachusetts.
