Gallery hours during ArtWalk (October 16th)

Panel discussions at 10am and 2pm
In collaboration with Newburyport ArtWalk, the Newburyport Art Association will be hosting two discussion panels featuring artists currently on view in our galleries on Saturday, October 16th, 2021. Starting out our day we will be opening early at 10:00am for a discussion in the galleries with Megan Chiango, Alicia Cohen, Maia Mattson, and Jayne Mistretta. Later on at 2:00pm, join us once again in the galleries for a discussion with the curator of our Refuge exhibit Joe Donnelly, Kelley Hails, Deborah Jenelle, Amanda Knight, Carolyn Lewenberg, and Susan E. Hanna. Artists Megan Chiango, Alicia Cohen, Susan E. Hanna, Deborah Janelle, Amanda Knight, Carolyn Lewenberg, Maia Mattson, and Jayne Mistretta are all participants in the Refuge exhibition. Refuge focuses on the comfort found in the relationship between humanity and nature and draws parallels between the COVID-19 pandemic and climate disaster. Mattson also has a sculpture on view in our Range Lights Sculpture Garden until September 2022. Kelley Hails will be joining us to talk about her solo show at the NAA, Reflections on Nature, an exhibition also focused on the natural world and the comforts one finds in it. In between talks, head out back to our garden for Shell Painting! Artist Carolyn Lewenberg will be collecting painted shells from our visitors at the NAA to use in her interactive installation piece at the Joppa Flats Education Center. The NAA is open to the public regularly from 11:00am - 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday and from 1:00pm - 5:00pm on Sunday, though in celebration of Artwalk we will be open from 10:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday, October 16th.
