The Member Spotlight series at Newburyport Art is a new initiative, featuring a solo showcase of work in the newly designated Mural Gallery — the hallway and staircase bridging the downstairs Sargent Gallery and upstairs Hartson Gallery. The current spotlight is on artist Tammy Bottner, presenting her vibrant show, Color and Culture.

Tammy is a local physician who now spends much of my time creating colorful, whimsical art. According to Tammy, these works are “inspired by both real places and people, as well as idyllic, imaginary ones. Some works depict groups of mysterious figures coming together in loving wise harmony. Others show imaginary, exotic cities full of symbols from different cultures and times. Using acrylics and mixed media, as well as lots of bright colors, this collection is an homage to diverse cultures, people, places and ideas.”

A Meet-the-Artist Reception will take place on Saturday, March 4th, from 4-6pm. The reception is free and open to the public with light refreshments provided!
