The Member Spotlight series at Newburyport Art is a new initiative, featuring a solo showcase of work in the newly designated Mural Gallery — the hallway and staircase bridging the downstairs Sargent Gallery and upstairs Hartson Gallery. The current spotlight is on Subroto Mukherjee, a talented photographer presenting “THRU MY LENS”.

It all began with an urge to capture the world the way he sees it, recount memorable stories and freeze great moments of time for all eternity.
Subroto specializes in outdoor, landscape, and street photography as well as portraits. He has been exploring aerial (drone) photography in his recent work. His exposure to mixed cultures — from growing up in India, living in the US, and globe trotting over 25+ countries — helps him bring a new perspective to his work.
Based out of Boston metropolitan, his work has previously been awarded and published in the local galleries over the years. He has shot for a variety of projects in the past, including weddings, high school senior portraits, and Indian classical dance portraits.
Subroto currently resides in Chelmsford, MA with his wife, daughter and a lovely yellow Labrador. Subroto can be contacted for any photography-related projects through his website: subrotomukherjee.smugmug.com
