Newburyport Art presents a Featured Artist solo exhibition by NAA Master Artist and local favorite Sara Demrow Dent! She has been a member of Newburyport Art for 21 years and credits the organization for launching her career. She has previously served on the Board of Directors — including a term as President — and she has previously served as Interim Executive Director.

Sara Demrow Dent is a full-time studio artist who has been writing and painting for over 20 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in Fine Arts and Film Making, and completed her Master’s degree in Modern Art and the Art Market at Christie’s Education New York. Sara is also a Graduate Gemologist in diamonds and colored stones.
Sara has shown her work in New York, California, and Massachusetts, and is included in collections internationally. She is an award-winning Master Artist at Newburyport Art and works out of her studio and home in the historic South End of Newburyport, MA.

“I am inspired by shapes and hues in nature and find the juxtaposition of colors and textures in seascapes and flora poetic. I attempt to translate the wild aspects of nature into a more architectural line and am currently exploring the combination of the realistic within the abstract. I have always been intrigued by the marriage of words and paint and often include my own poetry and/or journal entries that inspire an individual or group of paintings. I ultimately hope my work creates an atmosphere of both contemplation and serenity.”
A Meet-the-Artist Reception will take place on Friday, April 28th, from 5-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public with refreshments provided (including a surprise ‘signature cocktail’)!
Sara will also be at the galleries from 10am-2pm on Saturday, April 29th, as part of the Newburyport ArtWalk. This is the perfect time to stop by to take in her work!
One final note about this stunning exhibition: Newburyport Art will allocate 20% of every sale to its ArtLink scholarship fund for high school students!
