Mosaicist Corinne McKeown presents Grow Your Dreams, a fun and charming Member Spotlight at Newburyport Art. Corinne is a very active member of the Newburyport Art community, and making art is how she feels most accomplished, contributory, purposeful, spiritually balanced, and enlivened. Grow Your Dreams is part of the broader Glass Perspectives exhibition.

Corinne began her journey to becoming a proficient mosaic artist in 2012, learning early on that the art form extends far beyond a ‘feel good’ activity. The process of selecting and connecting various elements of size, color, texture, and shape also helps develop the skills of problem-solving, critical thinking, patience, and trust. There is often a sense of negotiation when making art, in order to achieve the best possible execution and outcome — whether function or decor. Mosaics can be a forgiving art, where imperfections can be embraced to add interest and/or highlight other parts of the greater work, and Corinne has taken this away as an important life lesson in general.

The Member Spotlight series at Newburyport Art is a new initiative, featuring individual artist members in the new Mural Gallery — the hallway and staircase bridging the downstairs Sargent Gallery and upstairs Hartson Gallery. Any NAA artist interested can complete a short application, and will be offered time in the Mural Gallery to display their own work!
