About the Instructor:
Gail Zona is a Massachusetts-based glass jewelry artist and metalsmith who specializes in artisan glass charms and hand-crafted sterling medallions. Her recent work can be seen at Newburyport Art Association, noa gifts in Concord, MA, at cheer competitions and online at www.schooljoolz.jewelry.
Gail started making hand-made items for sale as a 10-year old girl, where she made customized mice finger puppets and other artisan craft items for sale at a local consignment shop.
Gail turned her creative talents to jewelry in 2005 when she couldn’t find what she wanted in retail shops. A chance flyer in the mail turned her on to lampworking (glass bead making) with a class at Diablo Glass School in Boston. After encouragement from friends and family and some metal-working classes at MetalWerx in Waltham, Gail Zona Jewelry was born in 2008 specializing in glass and sterling statement jewelry. Fast forward to the fall of 2012 when a friend asked for a custom order for her daughter’s cheerleading banquet. The jewelry was a big hit and school joolz ™, was born.
Besides being an artist, Gail has a degree in Mathematics and an MBA, has been an executive in fast-growing technology companies for over 30 years and had a consulting company, Next Step Business, advising women entrepreneurs on topics such as marketing, strategy, and operational scaling.
She is currently teaching several marketing classes designed specifically for artists at the Newburyport Art Association.
