Soft materials are fragile. Pastel is like dust, yet its colors are powerful, heading towards permanency. Shellac is warm. It seals and protects. I would protect as would she.
I drew my mother with these soft and hard materials, an equation of the living and the dead within the same space, both the weakness and power of our human shells in one environment. The materials reflect the unwavering strength and spirit of our human condition.
