When the great Musician/Artist David Bowie passed away this January, He left behind an amazing “Last Will And Testament” of a recording he entitled “Black Star”. Having been our “Mass Art Rock Star”; I felt compelled to do something. Looking back over my College years sketchbooks, I came across a drawing I did of Bowie @ 1975 as “The Thin White Duke”. I scanned it, and altered it and multiplied it four times, also a nod to Andy Warhol’s multiple images (Bowie portrayed Warhol in the film “Basquiat”). Then I proceeded to write in almost all the lyrics to “Black Star”, Floating around the boarder of the piece, Unifying the parts into a cohesive entity.
