Photography Interest Group

  • Newburyport Art Association 65 Water Street Newburyport, MA 01950 USA (map)

The Photography Interest Group (PhIG), one of Newburyport Art’s Featured Interest Groups, presents its annual show: Capture the Moment. The exhibition will take place across the NAA’s first-floor galleries, featuring nearly 125 photographs by 44 talented photographers from the local New England area. These featured works are supplemented by over 100 additional prints, making for a total of about 225 photographs available in the galleries for viewing and purchase.

Subject matter varies greatly — ranging from beautiful seascapes & landscapes, to fascinating architecture, to interesting street scenes, to disarming wildlife, and more! The photographers in this group have traveled around New England and other parts of the world seeking out these striking images which engage the viewer and share their vision of art and beauty.

Juror Crista Dix (Executive Director of Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA) will select the exhibition’s awards. Prior to joining the Griffin Museum in 2020, she spent 15 years operating her own photography gallery. Ms. Dix has been a member of numerous panels and discussions on the craft of photography, juried creative competitions, and has participated in major portfolio reviews across the country in cities such as Houston, Portland, Los Angeles, Santa Fe, and New Orleans.
