Brent Rotsko (b. 1954) loves art since he was a young child growing up seeing his mother’s passion for oil painting.
After graduating as a Merchant Marine from Maine Maritime Academy, to pass the long hours from port to port, Brent spent his free time carving intricate model ships. This was the first in his artist endeavors.
Later while living in an area surrounded by rivers and marshes, he was inspired by the scenery and began sketching, which ultimately led to his love for Plein Air Painting.
Brent fell in love with oil painting! He is inspired by Richard Schmid, and continues to work under the direction of Robin Thornhill, and Rodd Bonita.
Brent is never without his camera to capture the beautiful sites of Boston’s North Shore knowing that one of those images will be the next he recreates on canvas.
Brent’s work has been accepted by jury for exhibition in The Newburyport Art Association, Concord Art Association, and Melrose Arts. Brent’s studio is located in The Muse at 9 Water Street, Amesbury, MA.
Brent’s recent Painting of Plum Island Marsh was the highest selling painting at The Newburyport Art Association’s annual fundraiser in 2012.
