About Paul Osborne

Description

The power of wild places and the structure, texture, and color in nature inspire Davis and Osborne. They strive to explore the deep, innate connection humans have with the natural world through photography.
Their work includes expansive landscapes and intimate portraits of plats, flowers, fruit, shells, and rocks. They are interested in capturing the grandeur of vast spaces as well the beautiful details. Recent work by the collaborative couple includes an ongoing series of still life photographs inspired by Dutch and Spanish painters. These images showcase the earth’s bounty and celebrate the beauty and importance of food. Traditionally, still-life painters tell stories of abundance and love of home. Catherine and Paul’s photographs tell these ancient yet timely stories. In 2011 they were invited to be “Artists in Residence” at the Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona where they photographed other-worldly and varied life forms, richly colored petrified wood, and historic buildings.
The couple works collaboratively in both film and digital photography media. Their color prints are limited editions printed with archival quality pigmented inks. Their artistic objective is to produce an image that is technically excellent but also communicates their shared passion for their subjects. They are both members of the Newburyport Art Association and The Vermont Center for Photography. Davis and Osborne’s photographs have won the National Photo Awards in 2004, 2005 & 2006 and received 2007 and 2008 photography awards from the NAA where the two have been Featured Artist with solo exhibitions in 2008 and 2010.
