Christine Molitor Johnson, a Newburyport native, began her study of art in the fall of 1994. In the past, she worked under the plein air guidance of Kevin J. Shea and Donald Demers. She has studied painting with Pat Lutz and J.C. Airoldi, and drawing with Alan Bull.
Christine works in oils and enjoys capturing the nuances of nature and the luminosity of the landscapes, water and skies that surround her. She strives for expressive and textured brushwork in her work.
She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association, Seacoast Art Association and an associate member of the North Shore Art Association. She is an exhibiting member of the Women in the Wild, a group of plein air artists and the Band of Brushes, another plein air group.
Christine received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a M. Ed in Creative Arts from Lesley University at Cambridge, Mass.
Her paintings can be found in private collections on the North and South Shore, Maine, Chicago, Boston, Cape Cod, Rye, NH, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Florida, Bermuda and Ireland.
