Symbolic of my transient lifestyle, these works offer detailed vignettes of life that surrounds trains and the industries that rely on them. Paramount symbols of economic development, trains enable the transfer of ideas, cultures, products, and people from one place to another. Collectively, these works define place as a living environment that evolves as people, ideas, and things are accumulated, experienced, and passed along.

These pieces incorporate multiple forms of media in their process. Beginning with a carefully captured photograph or spontaneous snapshot, the image is digitally altered, then printed on metal or painted on canvas. Next, each narrative work is deepened. Ideas rendered with traditional oil painting techniques are fused with altered, historical photographs and contemporary graphic images. The final artwork, a balance of the abstract, the representational and the figurative, blurs the distinction between painting, graphic art, and digital modeling.
