9:00 am - 11:30 am
This is an exciting course for the beginner and artists with experience to open the door further and broaden individual creativity. We will explore the many ways to use tools, materials, and method combinations. Demonstrations of techniques will be given throughout, and considering the amount of experimentation and discovery, I’m sure we will all share what we find out. This is a chance to work well outside the lines and get messy! Transformation, manipulation, deconstruction, multiple layers, additive and subtractive techniques, and sculptural relief are just some of the things we will find out in this course. Of course, we will cover the elements and principles of art and have impromptu “critiques”-I strongly encourage discussion and idea sharing in a very relaxed and fun atmosphere! Some projects may need the you to be a hunter and gatherer of unusual materials and objects. You are encouraged to work at home on a class project, and I may ask you are to carry out your own separate experimentation at home and bring in to share. Some specific techniques to be demonstrated are: collage, gel transfers, papier-mache, mono printing, painting, and more. The theme of the course will be a combination of the group input and the needs of the individual.
First meeting will be introductions and discussion and a painting/color exercise. Acrylic paint, paper, brush, knives, pencil, jar, rags.
